Description

AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM AND STRESS

Christian Defrance de Tersant, D.O. (France)

2-6 February 2026 (5-day full-day course)

Timings: 9.30 am – 5.30 pm

The early bird registration fee is Rs. 20,000 until 15 October 2025. Afterwards: Rs. 35,000

Course Aim

  • Understand the functioning of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), both in its physiology and in the signs that alert us to imbalance.
  • Know the pathologies that may result, to avoid creating a loss of opportunity for the patient.
  • Study stress and its effects on the ANS.
  • Diagnose an acquired imbalance of the ANS and understand its origin and pathophysiological consequences.
  • Apply a reasoned osteopathic treatment allowing the patient to regain balance.

Course Content

  • General overview of the ANS: origin, components, and regulatory roles.
  • Anatomy of the ANS: afferent pathways, intra-axial centers, efferent pathways.
  • The 6 points of Osteopathic treatment.
  • Functions and semiology of the ANS.
  • Visceral sensitivity – projected/referred pain.
  • Theory of convergence (practical workshop).
  • Action on organs, viscera, and sphincters.
  • Reflex dermalgies of Dr. Jarricot: mapping, palpation, use in diagnosis and verification of treatments (practical workshop).
  • Visceral plexuses: location, palpation, treatment using Rollin Becker’s listening and reciprocal exchange techniques, adapted by Christian Defrance (practical workshop).
  • Stress – General Adaptation Syndrome.
  • The works of Walter Cannon and Hans Selye.
  • Different phases of imbalance progression – general signs – types of imbalance – pathologies induced in exhaustion phase.
  • Neurovegetative dystonia – vagal fainting – tetany crisis – spasmophilia crisis: how to differentiate and approach in acute or chronic cases.
  • Cardiac coherence: breathing exercises to recommend to patients (practical workshop).
  • Techniques to act on ANS imbalances: cranial, sacral, dural, fascial, articular, liquid, etc.
  • Special focus on so-called “complicated vertebrae,” the basis for understanding functional pathologies and ANS imbalances.
